Hello, hello! Welcome! Thank you so much for coming over and checking out my blog!
I love reading other “about me” pages because it gives you the chance to get to know someone in a more intimate way other than what you see on Instagram pages! So, here is my attempt for you to get to know me a little better! Let’s go!
For those of you who do not know me already, my name is Kiera Palmer, girlfriend to Trey and dog-mom to Zoe, London, and Halia! (*Edit – We just recently lost our sweet baby Zoe. I cannot bring myself to remove her from this section.)
I love traveling with my girlfriends and especially other travel-loving / blogging friends. It makes for an awesome time when everyone is on the same page and you have several talented photographers with you! But, I try and travel with Trey as much as possible as well. He is getting pretty good behind the lens. Most of my recent European pictures have been taken by him. I just have to gently remind him from time to time to not cut off the tops of buildings! We always have the best time because he always keeps me laughing!
When I am not traveling or planning my next escape, I try and spend my time with my awesome network of friends, my family and Trey and the pups. I spend most of my other free time doing things that bring me joy and passion. I am the Vice President at a digital marketing firm, WaddyFletch, which I love so much because it gives me the space for what I call my “creative genius” and provides me the flexibility to travel when I want because we work remotely!
My second passion is The Women Project. I founded The Women Project in early 2019 and I am so proud and excited for what it is becoming. The Women Project is a membership organization for women professionals and entrepreneurs. It is an incredible community of women supporting each other and encouraging each other to push beyond our goals and visions and create an incredible, successful life. I launched it in Atlanta, but have plans to expand to many other cities in 2020. If you are interested in becoming involved or wanting to help launch it in your city, please reach out and let me know.
My love for travel is deeply rooted in my childhood as I was lucky enough to grow up traveling with my family. Both of my grandfathers were pilots for Eastern Airlines and my uncle spent several years working for Delta Air Lines (hello buddy passes!!). I have had the “travel bug” for longer than I can remember and it is the good kind of sickness that I never want cured!
It’s hard to remember every trip I took as a young child, but I can vividly remember the first time I got “that feeling” about traveling. My family was flying over to France to spend several weeks visiting family (my grandfather is from France and my grandmother is from Germany). I remember my mom gave me and my little sister a Nintendo GameBoy to play (distract us) on the plane. I remember everything about that trip. The feeling I got walking on the plane, the feeling of landing and stepping off the plane, and the feeling I got exploring new and exciting places around France, Switzerland, and Germany. Everything about it was exhilarating.
Not much has changed since then. I live to travel and you will often hear me say, “Travel gives me LIFE!” and no statement could be more true.
The Blonderer? That is a funny name…
I realized sometime in 2017 that I had done a poor job at keeping up with pictures and details about past trips and my memory for some of the details had slipped over time. So here we are with my solution to that problem – The Blonderer! I created a separate instagram account for fun because I figured, “why not” and just went with it! Why the name “The Blonderer” you ask? Well, it is just a simple play on words for “wanderer” and I am blonde. See… I am a creative genius, right?
Over the past few years I found a new love for taking pictures and trying to document everything I could so that I could have an on-going travel journal for every place I have been and a place to look back and relive each memory. I have also determined that any spare time or money I have is going to be spent traveling.
I did not used to think this way. Ask anyone who has known me for a long time and they can tell you about the impressive designer shoe collection I have! But, sometime over the last 5 years or so, I saw much more value in spending money on experiences in lieu of things. It has been the greatest change in my life. I have been so enriched in other cultures and other places on this Earth that I cannot imagine living any other way. One simple goal of mine is to simply inspire you! Book the flight. Take the trip. Stop spending money on “things” and start spending money on amazing experiences that will change you for the better.
I encourage you to follow along on @theblonderer Instagram page for updated photos and real time stories! Please also say hello and introduce yourself so I can get to know you, too!
